Hi Phil,
I am sorry ,I was incorrect about My Rachel being Charlies sister. She was his fathers Jacob sister. There were 12 of them, I have there names if you want them.
According to the Toe River Valley Heritage Vol 1 &2.
Your Jacob was a brother of my grandmother Rachel m Edward Wilson. There father was George J. Silvers Jr. b 10-28-1753 Fredrick Co. Md. m Nancy Ann Griffith b 1766, they had 12 kids.
George Jr. father was George Silver Sr. (Jurg Silbers) b 2-1731 Germany m Sissy Market (Elizabeth Schmieden)Germany.
Jacob married Elizabeth Wilson they had 1 child Charles 10-3-1812 Elizabeth died during child birth. Jacob married Nancy Reed and they had 12 children.
I have a good story.
Jacob was a farmer and a Babtist min. in the Kona area for 50 years. Because he couldn’t read or write. His wife Nancy Reed would read the bible to him and he would memorize the scripture he used in his sermon.
He married Nancy on 10-6-1814 in Buncombe Co. Nc. She was the daughter of Samuel Reed.
They are buried at Silver Family Cem. in Kona, Nc.
Hope this helps!

Henry Gilbert Silver
Henry Gilbert Silver (1801-after 1880) was the ninth child born to George Silver Junior and Nancy Ann Griffith. Henry was born on October 26th, 1801, into an Evangelical Lutheran family. He would have been about five years old when the Silver family arrived in what is now Kona. Unfortunately, Henry did not leave us a lot of information on himself. It is sufficient to say that he did leave 17 offspring.
Henry married first Sarah Martha “Sally” Wilson, daughter of Edward Wilson. She was born about 1800 and died about 1842. This marriage produced seven children: (1) Nancy N. Silver who married George Silver “Big George” Wilson. (2) Rachel Silver married Thomas “Tommy” Thomas. (3) Elizabeth Silver married Thomas A. Wilson. (4) Eliza Jane Silver married Ervin Ray. (5) Lucinda Silver married Isaiah Henson. (6) Martha Silver (Martha must have died very early in that we have no information on her whatsoever.) (7) Sarah A. Silver married H.L. Hensley and moved to Georgia.
After Sarah Martha passed away, Henry married Nancy Ann Howell, born about 1824 and died after 1880. She was a daughter of Thomas Howell and Piety Wilson. This marriage produced 10 children. (1) Piety Louella Silver married Thomas S. Willis. (2) Frances “Frankie” Silver married Joseph Honeycutt (3) Cynthia Silver of whom we know nothing. (4) Thomas C. Silver married Rachel E. Allen and Amanda Jane Honeycutt. (5) John Britt Silver married Elizabeth Nancy Jarrett. (6) William Jasper Silver married Sarah C. Ball and Lula Mildred Gill. (7) Rev. Henry Gilbert Silver married Judith Lavette Grindstaff and Ruie Catherine Dills. (8) Margaret M. Silver, again we have no information on Margaret. (9) Malinda “Linda” Silver married Albert Laws. (10) Levi D. Silver m. Mandy L.
Henry is buried in the Rose Branch Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Most of Henry’s children moved east into McDowell, Rutherford, Gaston and Cleveland Counties.

Explanation for this insanity?
Okay, so here’s where I try to make brief sense of the jumble of posts up until now.
Quite simply I am searching for answers to questions — the majority of them, these days, are about Native American heritage/genealogy and where my ancestors actually “came from”.
One page of hand-written notes from the past few days include the following locations:
In NORTH CAROLINA:
1- Dimsal, NC
2- Weaverville, NC
3- Buncombe County
4- Big Lick, Stanley County
5- Orange County
6- Swain County
7- Hickory, NC
8- Hollow Poplar
9) Montgomery County
10) Catawba County
11) Honeycutts, NC
12) Sampson County
Other locations:
1- Scott County, Virginia
2- Ellijay, Georgia
3- Roane County, Tennessee
4- Carter County, Tennessee
Surnames I am hoping to find further information on in these areas include:
Bailey, Briggs, Byrd, Griffith/Griffin, Garland, Honeycutt, Hampton, Letterman/Leatherman, Radford, Silvers, Wright…
NOTE: Names in bold are most like ancestors (if not noted as KIN, by an ITALICS).
And so, this is where I am at with finding my answers — somewhere in the “Toe River Valley” of North Carolina — with an interwoven genealogy of a community of people who MOST likely have Native American heritage; but have hidden it for so long, that finding solid proof is not easily done.
I will keep searching.
As time, energy and new leads permit me.

Possible connection through “J. H. Honeycutt” (one of several possible John Henry Honeycutt’s as a direct ancestor – Virgie Ann Honeycutt‘s father).
Will be looking into this further…
- NOTE
: Virgie Ann Honeycutt married Ivey Lee Abernathy - they were my PATERNAL grandparents.

CHARLES N. AND MARGARET (RIDDLE) BAILEY
My ancestor Charles Bailey was born sometime between
1789 and 1794 on Storey (Story, Storie) Branch, a tributary of
Little King Creek in Wilkes County, N.C. (now Caldwell). When
he was less than ten years old, he came to the wilderness of
the Toe River Valley. Details of that difficult and fantastic
journey may be found in the story of his parents, ANSEL AND
ELIZABETH (BRADLEY) BAILEY
